  1. I switch in between reading books and playing video games as my primary hobby. When I get bored with one, I take a break and do the other activity for a while.

  2. I do get sick of video games from time to time. Sometimes I’ll go back and replay one of my favorite games from my childhood to get nostalgic and remind myself why I love gaming so much. That usually helps.

More often than not I will only get tired of a game after I’ve played it extensively and feel burnt out. It’s not that I don’t dislike the game or hold anything against it, just that I need a change. Sometimes I return to games that are just simple and easy when I get tired of a game that demands the utmost of skills and attention and all times. Going back to a game like Thomas Was Alone, or Firewatch always seems to help me fall in love with games again and rekindle my desire to fully immerse myself in a great game. Another great way to feel motivated to play a game that may have fallen out of your favour is to research it and learn about it. Discovering all the effort that was put into a product can truly allow you to feel a better and deeper understanding of the product, plus you will appreciate all the intricacies of the game even more than before.

Sometimes! Switching up genres helps. I’m going to need to take a break from massive open world games soon I think, haha.

I burnt out every so often. Like others, I recharge the batteries by taking a break by focusing on other hobbies (such as watching anime.)
