Do You Ever See Yourself Quitting Video Games?

Or do you hope playing video games will be a lifelong hobby?

  1. Never. I did go through a period when I didn’t play for a while (months). However, now I’m backlogged. After 100 hours of Assassins Creed, I’m now playing Red Dead Redemption 2, with Resident Evil 2 Remake & Kingdom Heart 3 waiting. Not to mention Anthem in February and DMC in March.

I can’t honestly say but I don’t think so. I’m 40 now and have been playing since I was five. It is up there with reading and watching movies as things I do for leisure and I spend a lot of time and money on the hobby as it still makes me happy and I have 100s of games in my collection that I’ve never even played.

  3. I think I’ll be playing them for the long haul, although I do have the occasional break here and there.

Don’t see myself quitting, as I am a life long gamer. It would take something drastic, like publishers getting super greedy with their pricing. Every now and then I suffer burnout and stop playing for a while, but I always come back to the hobby.

  5. I can never quit gaming, I love it too much. However, funny you should write this now, as I soon plan on writing how my gaming habits will change (less games per year, going back to games, etc.). Gaming is too expensive and time consuming these days. I can’t give it up, but I am going to be a bit pickier, even if that means I’ll be reviewing less new releases per year.

    • I’m more selective about what I play, which is good because that leaves me more time for other hobbies and life. I wouldn’t be so selective had I not played a wide assortment of games from different genres when younger.

  6. Gradually maybe. Not because I don’t like video games, but because I rather spend time working on a creative project.

  7. I think it will lifelong – the amount of my spare time I spend on gaming goes up and down but never to zero. I’m hooked on the regular achievement and interactivity that gaming offers.

  8. The only way I can see quitting is if I feel like I’m not good enough or able to do well at video games anymore for some reason. Even then, I’m sure I could play some less intense games that have a good story like an Adventure game or an RPG. So I suspect it will be a lifelong thing for me 🙂

Honestly… it’s possible. As much as I hate to admit it, I don’t like games as much as I used to. I need to find some other hobbies in the real world to balance my life out, ya know?

  10. I don’t ever see myself giving up video games! It’s been a lifelong hobby for me that I’ve always enjoyed. Plus, my backlog is so large, I’ll never run out of games to play 😉
